چکیده

A better knowledge of the transport and thermodynamic properties for the refrigerant+lubricant system is required to properly design the refrigeration circuit. This is essential also to develop proper models able to predict the behavior of the mixture refrigerant+lubricant depending on the working conditions. However, the experimental data available in literature are insufficient to build dedicated models, being frequently related to commercial lubricants with undefined structure. Recently, a series of measurements have been performed at isothermal conditions with a static method to evaluate the solubility of carbon dioxide in commercial POE lubricants and pure pentaerythritol tetraalkyl esters (both linear and branched) as POE precursors. Parallely, the PRSV EoS, with the Huron-Vidal mixing rules has been selected for the correlation of the solubility data. The paper presents a discussion on the solubility data obtained and their correlation with the selected model, with particular reference to the influence of the lubricant structure.

Quantitative Visualization of CO2 -Oil Mixtures in CO2 Expansion Flows

We report the construction of an optically accessible flow test section made of quartz to simulate carbon dioxide flow through throttling devices in refrigeration systems. The existence of traces of lubricant oil (specifically Polyolester (POE)) in the working medium makes the flow amenable to Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) diagnostics. The molecular structure of these lubricants is rich in c...

A New Synthetic Hybrid Refrigeration Oil for R410A and R407C

There is a need to improve conventional polyolester lubricants that are currently being evaluated as the optimal refrigeration base oil for the alternative refrigerants R41 OA and R407C, which are expected to be designated as the replacement ofHCFC 22. Prior studies show that the conventional polyolesters and other lubricants have poor hydrolysis and solubility. This paper is an introduction to...

Continuous Synthesis of Oleyl Oleate in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide using Solid p-Toluenesulfonic Acid as Catalyst

Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) was used as solvent to synthesize oleyl oleate as an analog of Jojoba oil from oleic acid and oleyl alcohol with high conversion (100%) of the acid into ester in a short time of 100 min. Utilizing a low cost solid catalyst, p-toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate (PTSA), the esterification reaction was performed, without any prior preparation step...

Influence of shielding gas composition on weld structure in pulsed Nd: YAG laser welding

This work studied the effect of additions of carbon dioxide to argon shielding gas on the weld shape and microstructure of ST14 steel in pulsed Nd: YAG laser welding. By additions of carbon dioxide up to 15%,the weld area and depth/width ratio decreases while rising of carbon dioxide up to 25% causes increasing of weld area and depth/width ratio. It is observed that the weld metal microstructur...

Solubility Prediction of High Molecular Weight n-Paraffins in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

Solubility of high molecular weight n-paraffins in supercritical carbon dioxide has been a matter of interest to many researchers. However, not sufficient solubility experimental data are available although the methods by which the experimental data are obtained have many varieties. Utilizing cubic equations of state is an effective method for solubility prediction of n-paraffins in supercr...
